Also during this time I tried to perfect a recipy for fake blood (no ketchup or felt tip pens for us); not to the fault of a certain members steady hand, and a bottle of food colouring, the mix ended up purple.

We also filmed the opening credits; which consists of letters cut out from a newspaper to spell our names, which I think is a pretty good idea (even if I do say so myself). Mr. Wallis should be happy to read that we have filmed a boat load of close-ups, like a hand, a phone and lipstick.

Filming today was brilliant, I can’t wait for the next filming session. It’s great to watch our ideas transform from words and pictures to an actual film.

Both films created a lot of tension, horror and bedazzlement with just a single prop, perpetuated by a character’s persona or by the setting.

Watching this gave us a lot of food for thought, to think outside the box as to what can be scary and edgy

My group (Chloe, Shona Isla, Conner and Myself) decided to be a little un-original and make a sequal to our ever so famous “Islay spy school” with muchly the same story line; sadly we did not manage to finish editing in school time, but we did come back in a couple of lunch time’s to finish it off.

We enjoyed this task as it was a good way to build up friendship in the group and learn how important the “180 rule” is and also continuity; as I found out last time I cannot post our videos on the blog, if you would like to see them most of them should be on “my vimeo”.

Mr. Wallis found each group a film poster, then we used the questions and answers from an SQA paper as a basis for our poster, we had “cloverfield”

I decided to write about “rear window opening”

it starts with the opening credits over three blinds, there is some chirpy light hearted music playing, this is generating a very relaxed atmosphere, as the music is playing, the blinds a slowly rolling up and exposing the streets and shops below, once all three blinds are up the camera tilts into the window fully exposing the whole street.

It then cuts to a black cat runing across a flight of stairs, the connotations of the black cat are not fitting the the atmosphere built up by the music played before, the camera lifts to reveal an apartment complex, the colouring is very orange as are the buildings, giving a warm and happy feeling, the camera then pans across the complex giving a sense of size and confinement, whilst the camera is panning we see a few people on the balconies of there apartments.

The camera angles used give the sense of the fly on the wall, or a voyeur watching the public from a room, the camera cuts to a man sitting by an open window, with a mass of sweat beads on his forehead, we then get a shot of a thermometer, telling us how hot it is, revealing the reason as to why people were out sleeping on their balcony, the camera once again pans across the rest of the complex, it then cut s back to the man sitting by the window, but now we see he is in a wheelchair with a broken leg, on the cast is written “Here lie the broken bones of L.B Jefferies”, this creates an enigma as to why his leg is broken, the camera then explore the room he’s in, we see picture on his wall, most of which are negative or destructive, one of a racing car flipping in mid air, this may be the reason why his leg is broken, the negative pictures create a new enigma as they are not in keeping with the general atmosphere created.Â

Now that we had the basics down the ideas really started to sprout up, one idea led to another and another. The hours of presentations really paid off, as we found that the key aspects was like a second langauge to us, we came across a few problems like our target audience, because of our own age restrictions and film preferences.

I think our ideas are really starting to take shape, and our film should turn out pretty good.�
